FEATURED: COFA ANNUAL WEBSITE

As I am a part of the graduating class that featured in the 2012 CoFA Annual, my works were also featured on the Annual website. These works are only the tip of the iceberg and are among my favourites.

The website can be accessed from here

APPLE STORE BROADWAY OPENING

This is just to remind myself (and my faithful readers) that I am still alive. Admittedly, this came a couple of weeks late. My apologies.

Insert photo from the front of the store. Yes friends, I was one of the people who queued. No, I did not sleep over at Broadway. I merely waited in line with a few hundred people? Just one of the things I do in my spare time, I suppose. It was fun!

Why, hello friends. We have officially photo-bombed using state of the art technology at its finest.

The photos at the bottom were taken from a Mac-related forum/site. My friends found it. All sorts of candid, with shots of our faces shown in awkward poses. I seem to be a magnet for awkward media features? Remember a few months ago in Japan? And also a couple of years ago in an MX newspaper feature? I’m digressing here.

All in all, I had fun.

FEATURED: ASTRAEUS | Photo Journal by Annette Wilson

The ENVIRONMENT & SPIRITUALITY exhibition that was held at Kudos Gallery was featured in Annette WIlson’s photographic journal. She captured the experience through her photographs. Her journal is available here

This is one of the candid shots that she took of me. I was taking photos of the whole exhibition, so I didn’t get a chance to ask someone to take photos of me. It was an amazing night! Thanks for capturing the moment Annette.

11-3-11

[http://sasaeru.blogspot.com.au/] is a blog that provides more information about the 11311 campaign that seeks change in our perception of the world, post-Tsunami. I am an advocate for this campaign, as it empowers us as people to change our relationship with nature and the environment in general. Likewise, it is a way of empowering the Japanese people in this period of recovery.

It was an amazing experience to meet Kumi Kato and Simon Wearne during my travels to Japan. I learned so much from both of them. It would be amazing to work with them on projects in the future.

FEATURED: KINAN SHINBUN (12 JANUARY 2012)

Whilst on our trip in Japan, we were featured in a local news publication called Kinan Shinbun. The photo and the article discussed our visit to Taiji, and the community’s aim to resolve any miscommunications and confusion on the controversial subject of whaling. The visit was quite educational.

I personally do not agree with the practice of whaling, or the idea of capturing dolphins/whales for entertainment purposes. However, I believe in the importance of learning about the history and culture that is associated with places like Taiji. I also believe that learning about history, tradition and heritage will allow us to develop industries and communities that are a lot more sustainable in nature. As human beings, I believe that we have a responsibility to this planet that we inhabit, as well as everything that exists in it. As a designer, I know that it is my challenge to come up with solutions that will not come as a cost to the environment.

Visiting Japan widened my perspective on a myriad of areas. It has inspired me to see the world through different eyes and has challenged me to try doing things I have never done before.
